How about those cats? Can you dig it?
What does an episode of The Flintstones have to do with HipCat Media?
First and foremost, I have loved this cartoon since I was a little girl. I'm an 80s kid, so cartoons like Bugs Bunny, The Jetsons, and The Flintstones all had a heavy rotation in my house. The story goes a bit like this. Fred and Barney have met a new friend, Hotlips Hannigan who is a "swinging cat" down at the jazz club. Fred and Barney get up on stage and begin jamming out to "When the Saints Go Marching In." They are rocking and rolling, snapping their hipster fingers, having a great ol' time. When at about the 1:30 minute mark, Fred, Barney and Hotlips are jamming right along giving the young beatniks all the feels. At one point, the beatniks ask themselves, "How about those cats? Can you dig it?" Fred and Barney have become Hip Cats in the eyes of their admirers, and stars are born.
I don't know why, but these terms stuck with me all these years. When I was searching for a brand identity, I came across something similar to my current logo. The hipster cat you see in my logo is a representation of everything I want HipCat Media to be. A place where I could collaborate and partner with clients, in a casual, creative way that allows us to connect the dots and tell great stories about great brands. A fun, hip, jamming place where creativity and passion meet to exceed client expectations.
